Hunter’s Acupuncture Treatment

Hunter, an older Thoroughbred and former race horse, was recently diagnosed with a pinched nerve. He seemed to lose control of his back legs as a result of this pinched nerve. We suspected he had wobblers. He appeared to have no control over his back legs. Seattle Slew, winner of the 1977 Triple Crown, suffered with a similar problem. We’ve spent the last 3 years healing a fetlock injury with a 50-50 pct solution of alcohol & witch hazel — now this. Our “traditional” DVM prescribed a steroid which helps as long as he is receiving a large amount. We decided to implement his traditional treatment with acupuncture. Kristen Doust, DVM is administering the treatment.

Their drug and alcohol use often stems from different causes, and they have even more trouble projecting the consequences of their use into the future. In addiction treatment, adolescents must be approached differently than adults because of their unique developmental issues, differences in their values and belief systems, and environmental considerations (eg, strong peer influences). The use of substances may also compromise an adolescent’s mental and emotional development from youth to adulthood because substance use interferes with how people approach and experience interactions our staff understands this.
